We asked our employees to submit their personal stories of experiences that made them appreciate the benefits of working at L&T Health and Fitness. These memories involve co-workers, supervisors or customers that have impacted them in some positive way. Below you will find some great and inspiring examples of fondest memories shared from our SERVICE Leaders at L&T.
"When I worked at GAO, Keith and I would train each other on Fridays. It gave both of us a great chance to 'test our skills' and get some great ideas for our own clients! I have never been more sore in my life!" - Katie Rodriguez
"My fondest L&T memory is every NVFC trip, especially the FDIC 2008 trip. It was one of the few trips that almost the whole HP team got to go on. We worked hard during the day and hung out together at night. This trip we learned how many oysters I could eat, got to see a little bit of Ken's dancing skills, and how Gail could work her magic at every Firefighter party." - Valery Hill
"The Sue's hosted a holiday luncheon in Philadelphia several years ago. What a great way to include non-local SERVICE Leaders in their holiday celebration." - Lisa Marchiani
"What I appreciate most about L&T is how accessible Sue and Sue are. Through all of the changes and growth over the years, Sue and Sue are always available and always happy to connect with employees of all levels. They make an effort to know new staff and stay informed on the specifics of each site. As busy as they both are, and as easy as it would be to remove themselves from the day-to-day grind, I truly appreciate that we have owners that are invested in all of us and what we do to on a daily basis as representatives of L&T." - Michelle White
"Most memorable for me are the people, specifically the L&T 'vets' that have been with L&T through the years. Despite all of the growth in various directions, there is still a huge 'family' element to L&T. It is so nice to know that my supervisor, co-workers and senior management all care for me and have a genuine interest in my life and my family. Being able to bring that other piece of me to work on a daily basis is a unique benefit - and one that I truly value." - Michelle White
"In the fall of 2008, I was part of the first 'Walking Tour' of L&T Health and Fitness-managed sites in Washington, DC. The internship team created and implemented the Walking Tour to show college students what it would be like to work in one of our fitness centers. These students were taken through a selection of our sites and were able to see the diversity of our staff and our fitness center members. We provided valuable insight into corporate fitness management as well as useful information for how the students could make themselves more marketable in the industry. Many of these students went on to apply for internships with L&T." - l Rosen
"My other, more L&T geared memory, but not as detailed...About two years ago, Michelle White, our senior account manager, presented me with an L&T Medal. I had shown her that I could provide exceptional SERVICE leadership as well as be her go-to when she forgot things. The part that sticks out in my memory though is that she made me wear it for the day! Nice to be awarded, but I'm not much for bragging and having everyone ask what it was for was not my forte. I do still carry the medal on my bag though!" - Morgan Lambert
"My greatest memory at L&T is at our site we had just finished our Biggest Loser program and both groups did great by losing over 100lbs. and my co-worker and I were thrilled with the results that were achieved. We felt like we accomplished our job and didn't expect anything in return. However, after we presented the participants with their prizes, we were pleasantly surprised by our members generosity when they awarded us with prizes. We were shocked by this gesture since we never expected anything extra for doing our job." - Aaliyah Gillespie
"My fondest memory was definitely having the experience to go to the 2009 IHRSA conference with Allison, Gail and Laurie. Going with them and rooming with Laurie really gave me some insight on L&T and I walked away from that experience being very proud to be part of this organization. It can be difficult at time to be so far away from "home office" and the bulk of the L&T clients, so this was an opportunity for me to really feel part of the team. I was able to learn more about the industry- both fitness and wellness and I was also able to learn more about the people that I went with and how they climbed the latter of success. I was most impressed to get to know the people that I went with above anything and still weeks after returning, I feel a genuine connection to L&T from that trip." - Emily Ryan
"L&T has always been a customer service driven company. While the majority of our customers are in the many L&T managed fitness centers, I appreciate the community outreach and service that L&T offers. In 2008, Sue Liebenow, L&T President, and Allison Flatley, Chief Operating Officer, participated in the Vienna Relay for Life event with me and other L&T employees. It was great to have the support of my upper management during this community event and a joy to have their involvement!" - Julia McNaney
"My Senior Account Manager goes to great lengths to ensure that our annual 5K race is successful. When it comes to our events, Kara Burdick is always available to help no matter the task. My fondest memory is at the 2008 Navy Federal 5K when Kara stepped up as the assistant to our mascot “Sammie the Sea Otter”. Kara assisted “Sammie” during the pre-race stretching activity. The crowd loved the entertainment and I will always love this memory!" - Julia McNaney
